The statue of David Bek

There are many statues of famous people in our city even there are two or three statues of the same person. I think that our government must build a statue of David Bek, because there is only one statue of him in our country. That statue is located in the city Kapan.

David Bek was Armenian commander. He was the leader of the liberation of Syunik from Iranian and Turkish forces. His born date is unknown but it is fact that he was born in the 17^th century and died in 1728. David Bek continued the program of Israyel Ori to liberate Armenia. He was focused especially on Syunik and Karabakh.

Turkish forces invaded to Erevan and conquered it. Then they invaded to Syunik and David Bek decided to fight against them. In 1722 David Bek signed a contract with Georgian king Vaghtang VI. And soon they sent forces to Armenia to fight against Turkish forces. As a result Armenian forces won the fight.

If David Bek would not done these all for Armenia, now Armenia would not exist and Syunik would be in Turk’s hands. He was one of the greatest commanders of our nation. He was one of the most prominent military figures of the Armenian liberation movement of the 18th century directed against the forces of Turkey and Iran republic.

In conclusion, David Bek has done many good things for our country and the most important of his liberations was the liberation of Syunik from Iran republic and Turkey. And I believe that the statue in Kapan is not enough. And he deserved to have a statue in our city.
